Wally George! Yeeaaahh! Also, incidentally, Rebecca de Mornay's father, as I recall. I Wiki'd him, and he has been defunct since 2003.

I saw him interviewed on a Bay Area talk show back in the late 80s and he wasn't really like Springer. Wally George as I recall was extremely right wing (he even put out a record sometime in the 80s) and would regularly attempt to bait his TV show guests, whereas Springer is just a carnival barker. Sorry to hear though he isn't around anymore.

And yes he was Rebecca de Mornay's father, the Bay Area talk show hosts made a point of mentioning that. :)

Wally George's hair was legendary. I think Ric Flair stole his steez.

Springer freely admits his show is total garbage, whereas Wally would never have admitted the same about his show.

Speaking of dear, departed Wally, I'm reminded of a similar guy named Joe Pyne who was equally as right wing (if not more so) and hosted a TV show back in the 60s.

And who's the conservative ex-congressperson in OC that used to be a TV commentator? His rants were always a hoot too.
