Anyone aware of the old Vine St.Bar & Grill? What's there now and how is it?
I saw Yma Sumac and Nina Simone there about 25 years ago and it was a tiny little place.
Hopefully there's something interesting at it's spot.

Thu, August 2, 2007 - 12:09 PMIt's been leveled recently. The whole block... gone. They are building a some sort of mega complex on that site. Such a crime. -

Thu, August 2, 2007 - 3:53 PMCory, sorry, I admire anyone who is a Nina Simone fan! and Yma Sumac is interesting too! oops, so you are cool! I don't think I been to Vine St. Bar & Grill. The whole downtown Hollywood is too friggin... bright or something, I just don't like it!! -

Re: Vine St.Bar & Grill
Thu, August 2, 2007 - 6:33 PMOMYGOD!That's like tearing down the Eiffel tower.I won't cuzz but what an asses!I thought that blight on Sunset and Vine was bad enough...I wonder if there is a competition as far as "How much can we teardown this year..."?
I do remember reading something going up on Hollywood&Highland across from the Kodak structure.Wich would mean that wonderful pharmacy(i was just in it,it's a souvenirshop now,but at least the facade is still there)would be ripped down too, condo's on that spot would be ...condos i guess.
Why apologise,Ron, if you're fan?!I am one too and i never did!
I wonder what else people have /had seen there?
That's just sad to read. But we want to informed about de-fu-d, L.A. -

Re: Vine St.Bar & Grill
Fri, August 3, 2007 - 7:47 PMThe building will not be destroyed. However, I've been in the Capitol studios many, many times. Studio A is the most legendary room in American recording history. Sinatra, Elvis, Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, Dylan, Beach Boys, Byrds, Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys.. you name it. Films sountracks have been recorded, sweetened... Everything/everyone you can imagine has has passed through those doors and within the next two years... gone! LA has a long standing policy that the land is worth more than anything on top of it. -

Re: Vine St.Bar & Grill
Fri, August 3, 2007 - 9:18 PMIt's even more hallowed building rhan the Eiffel tower.Same on Capitol,Hollywood and who ever owns it now.Maybe it's got to do with the digital age as well....as long as i can see that needle on that stack from the 101! -

Fri, August 3, 2007 - 11:01 PMIf they're going to keep the building intact, that's not so bad I suppose.
